2nd Annual "Fill Up My Cup: Party Like A Pineapple!"

A big thank you to our sponsors, bartenders, volunteers, and attendees!  We had a blast putting on this event for you, and hope everyone who attended enjoyed themselves.

And congratulations to Shawn Nies of Bent Creek Country Club who won our signature drink competition.

Attached is the event program which includes all of the drink recipes!

Boy Scout Workshop

This year The Ceramic Art & Culture Institute is partnered with the Pennsylvania Dutch Council of the Boy Scouts for our summer fundraiser "Fill Up My Cup: Party Like A Pineapple".   This partnership is symbolic of the many partnerships our organization has made with other local non-profit groups to allow youth the opportunity to experience the ceramic arts through a total immersive artistic experience.

The Pennsylvania Dutch Council works hard to always have resources available for a scout and his family to participate in their programs regardless of finances.  They have multiple funds available in their operating budget that allow for scouts to apply for a “Campership” which will allow them to participate in activities such as Summer Camp, general scouting, or district events.

A portion of funds raised during this event have been donated to the "Campership" program.  Addiotnally, all money raised from the live auction of the scout's cups at the event have been put aside for scouts to participate in workshops at the CACI to obtain their pottery badges.

In June, the Ceramic Art & Culture Institute hosted 5 scouts for a cup making workshop.  The cups created were then generously donated by the boys for our live auction.  The scouts were asked to make their pieces inspired by their personal experience with nature.

Studio Open House (December 10, 2017)

The Institute hosted its first Studio Open House where our Executive Director gave demonstrations and tours of our newly renovated studio facility to visitors.  Class schedules and signups will be available in a few days...stay posted!

Centre Park Christmas House Tour (December 10, 2017)

On December 10, 2017, as part of the Centre Park Christmas House Tour, the Ceramic Art & Culture Institute donated the first floor of our building to house the vendors participating in the Holiday Gift Market.

Pennsylvanians of Vision Gala (October 15, 2017)

The Ceramic Art & Culture Institute hosted the Pennsylvanians of Vision Gala at the Marriott at Penn Square in Lancaster on October 15, 2017 to honor the philanthropic contributions of Dr. Jim Argires and Jeanne Arnold.  For this event, the Institute partnered with Excentia, an organization that strives to provide those supports necessary to enable people with developmental needs to live as independently and fully as they desire within the community.  In addition to receiving a portion of the proceeds from the event, the Institute also started a fund that night ($1,300) for students from Excentia to participate in ceramic workshops!

Fill Up My Cup

“Fill Up My Cup” took place June 16, 2017 at the Conestoga Home and Gardens in Lancaster, PA.  This festive event included signature drink tastings by six Lancaster County Bars/ Restaurants, sumptuous appetizers, and a themed silent auction.  Each guest also got their selection of a handmade ceramic cup created and donated by one of the 100 national and local ceramic artists who participated.  The cups were then used during the event to taste the signature drinks and served as a centerpiece for conversation!

We would like to specially congratulate Mike from Bube’s Brewery who won our signature cocktail competition, earning him a week in Las Vegas!  We hope he returns next year as our reigning champ!

The proceeds from this event will go towards finishing our basement studio renovation.  Stay tuned for pictures of the completed project as well as information about our studio open house and how to sign up for workshops.

Thank You!!

Giving Back to the Community Workshops (November 2016)

Until the Ceramic Art & Culture Institute renovates its new ceramic studio and starts hosting workshops and offering community classes, our Executive Director is going on site volunteering her time to extend the gift of clay to others.  Our first stop was the Opportunity House.  The Opportunity House "has been helping the homeless population of our area (Reading) since November 1984 and has expanded profoundly since then. In addition to offering an emergency shelter that served nearly 500 people and 96,547 meals last year, we offer a 24/7 childcare and learning center, services from the Children's Alliance Center, assistance for veterans, and reuse and recycle services that reinvest funds back into our agency in order to further support our mission and services."

The student workshops included ready made ceramic ornaments for age group 5-8 to decorate, and a two part workshop for 8-13 year olds to learn how to make and decorate pinch pots from scratch.  The work was then transported back to our facilities and fired in our kiln and returned to the students just in time for Christmas!

A special thank you to our Ceramic Art & Culture Institute volunteer, Claire Killefer, who helped teach this workshop!

Centre Park Christmas Tour 2016 (December 16, 2016)

We joined the Centre Park Historic District in hosting the cocktail party for the moonlight Christmas House Tour.  Small groups were led about the neighborhood by a tour guide dressed in period costume who talked to visitors about the history of the neighborhood and each home’s unique architecture. Guests visited each of six homes on the tour and concluded at the Institute for food and beverages.

Founders and Friends Celebration (October 1, 2016)

Our first fundraiser, The Friends and Founders Celebration, was a huge success!  The event grossed around $45,000 and netted close to $40,000.  A huge thanks to our Gold and Silver Institute Founders who sponsored the start of the institute.  The evening began at the Ceramic Art & Culture Institute with a champagne guided tour of the mansion and companion art gallery.  After, guests enjoyed a gourmet dinner at the Berkshire Country Club, where they also had the pleasure of listening to an inspirational address by Swarthmore College professor and ceramist, Syd Carpenter.

Centre Park Garden Tour (June 25, 2016)

We joined the Center Park Historic District in hosting one of their stops on the annual Garden Tour.  The event consisted of a self-guided walking tour through the private urban gardens of several Centre Park homes and businesses. Guests were treated to a signature food tasting from a local restaurant at each garden along with a complimentary beer or wine pairing.
